Description
Taken on Bob's Ledge in the Alligator Reef Marine Sanctuary off Islamorada, Florida. This is the largest burrfish I've ever met, he was nearly two feet long. He was also very gregarious and friendly, hanging out just above a nice sized coral head and taking his time checking each of us out. Unlike his much smaller relatives he had no fear of us at all.

Depth: approximately 25 feet
Visibility: approximately 40 feet (and they apologized that it wasn't better--I have no complaints, I usually dive in vis of 5 to 10 feet at home in Ohio)

two feet long?????? oh my god! what a gorgeous fish. he has such a gentle expression. I have included this sweet guy in an article here [link] about species likely to be affected by the recent gulf coast oil spill.... hope that's ok
